School is back in session in Guatemala, and the kids are settling into their school routines. The Vida School theme this year is “Be An Example” (based on 1 Tim 4:12) and our students are learning how to set an example “in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Some quick updates:
We’re excited to have twelve new classes of children at our Vida schools this year. If you’ve been waiting to sponsor a child or class, now is your chance! We’ve retired our waitlist, and you can once again see both the children and the classes waiting for a sponsor on the Sponsorsoft platform.
Sponsors – have you received a back-to-school picture from your child or class? Or a grad photo? Weren’t they fabulous? (If you haven’t seen yours, be sure to check your Sponsorsoft inbox). Now would be a great time to send your child or class an encouraging back-to-school note!
When school starts, Impact teams return! We’ve already seen the first school team and the mechanics team come and go, and we’re almost fully booked for 2024. (If you’re considering bringing a team to Guatemala in 2025, be sure to fill out an interest form soon!)
The clinic has also been busy! A dental team is serving in our schools right now. We’ve also had a local doctor and a local dentist providing regular check-ups for our students. Pray for wisdom for our medical practitioners – both visiting and local – as they impact body and soul in Guatemala (and see our website to learn more about coming as a medical practitioner).
Our winter VIDA Discipleship Program participants have jumped right in, learning Spanish, digging into the Bible together, and teaching English at some of the Vida Schools. Are you considering joining us this summer? Applications for both 2024 and 2025 are now open.
Plans are moving ahead for the construction of Vida Mestela. The road into Mestela has been under repair, causing some delays, but we’re hoping to see construction start next month! Thank you again to all who gave to build a brighter future!
