Friend, what is a future worth?
That’s a question I can’t help but ask myself when I see how our children and families in Guatemala live. So many are caught in cycles of poverty and illiteracy, just trying to get through this day, this week, this month.
When you’re hungry TODAY, it makes sense to pull your 12-year-old out of school so that he can earn a few quetzales picking rocks on a neighbours field to supplement the family income.
When you’re cold TODAY, it makes sense to send your 10-year-old two hours up the mountain to gather a load of firewood to use or sell instead of completing his lessons.
When you’re a struggling single parent TODAY, it makes sense to keep your 8-year-old at home to mind the youngest children instead of sending her to class.
But these actions, which make sense today, come at the cost of a child’s future.
Will you help families break these cycles of poverty and illiteracy? Will you help children dream beyond the walls of their homes?
When children attend Vida Schools, they learn to read, write, reason and plan. More importantly, they learn that God’s got their future, and He can be trusted.
Vida Schools provide practical help – educational resources, a nutritious school meal, access to medical care – so that children can stay in school longer.
And Vida Schools provide loving teachers and a place of refuge when life is hard, so that children can dream of a brighter future.
Will you be part of that brighter future? You’ll love knowing that a child is taking steps toward a brighter future because of your generosity. And until the end of the year, your donation will be doubled, stretching your generosity even further.
And that’s so important right now, at a time when costs keep rising in Guatemala and around the world. Everything from pencils to teacher’s salaries are more expensive than they were even a year ago. We need your help to break the cycles of poverty. Providing comprehensive care to 2000 children is not cheap. But then, what is a future worth?
Today, we invite you to Build a Brighter Future for kids in Guatemala. You can even dedicate your donation, and put the gift of a Brighter Future under a loved one’s Christmas tree. Either way, you’re letting children in Guatemala know that their future is worth it.
This year we celebrated 25 years of Impact, and we love seeing the generational changes that begin to happen when children and families start dreaming God-sized dreams. But each year there are more children, and together, we want to make sure that Vida Schools are there for children for years to come.
Thank you for your love for children and families in Guatemala. Thank you for building a brighter future for them.
